Pate de Verre
My Pate de Verre vases and sculptures involve a complex process that marries my pottery with glass. First I throw or sculpt the design in clay. I encase the piece in a plaster mould, then remove the clay and clean the mould. I then pack the mould with glass frit and fire it for 30 hours. The plaster is then removed, and it is meticulously cleaned to reveal the cast glass piece. Then I add beads, enamel or apply other techniques to produce the final piece of art.
